In 1750 the Musée du Luxembourg was the first French museum to be opened to the public, showcasing art from the French royal collections. Situated in the Luxembourg Palace, it has played a significant role in French cultural life for centuries. In the early 2000s, recognising the need to modernize and integrate its cultural assets, the Senate decided to introduce an integrated cultural policy for the Palace, Gardens and Museum.
Avesta Group supported this transformative journey by developing a comprehensive strategic plan for the Musée du Luxembourg. We facilitated a tender process to identify a future operator, creating detailed specifi cations that guided the Senate’s open tender. From over 20 qualified participants, a new operator was selected and signed a 10-year lease for the museum.
