The Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg is a national and international destination established by Parliament through amendments to the Museums Act, coming into force in August 2008. Its purpose is to explore the subject of human rights with particular but not exclusive reference to Canada, enhancing public understanding, promoting respect for others, and encouraging reflection and dialogue. The 25,000 sqm building, designed by Antoine Predock Architect and completed in 2014, is an internationally recognised landmark offering over 4,500 sqm of exhibit space across 11 zones, alongside a temporary exhibition gallery for in-depth exploration of human rights issues. The museum was delivered as a partnership between the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg, The Forks North Portage Partnership, and the private sector.
Avesta Group supported the Province of Manitoba during the construction phase in 2011 and 2012, providing operational and financial planning as well as project estimating and budgeting to help bring this landmark institution to completion.
