The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is the world’s largest museum devoted to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. The location of the museum, in a complex of grain silos restored and modernized by Thomas Heatherwick, contribute to make this place unique. Since its opening in 2017, Zeitz MOCAA focuses on collecting, preserving, researching and exhibiting cutting-edge contemporary art in over 9,500 sqm, placing it among leading contemporary art museums worldwide.

We worked on the pre-opening strategy which entailed a plan for the first 5 years of the institution based on the five following goals: building a collection, becoming efficient, focus on diversity, promoting production of African art, and developing partnerships.

29 565 visitors came during the opening week, 298 551 visitors visited the museum the first year after its inauguration

The governance of the institution has been reinforced, accordingly to the long-term sustainability and accountability strategy designed by our team

Adoption of a Code of Ethics by the Institution’s Board of Trustees

Launch of a collection strategy, to raise the reputation of MOCAA by owning a unique collection of modern and contemporary African art beyond Zeitz Collection

Elaboration of a permanent and temporary exhibition strategy, enhancing both Zeitz Collection and the Institution’s recent acquisitions

Expansion of the cultural offer to an educational and scientific program, encouraging deeper connection between the visitors and the arts
