Over 6 months, Avesta Group documented the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the local Bedouin community in the NEOM region, adhering to UNESCO standards. In partnership with NEOM’s Heritage Department, a pilot campaign was conducted in Al-Bad’, with extensive community participation resulting in over 60 interviews. Meticulous analysis of these interviews led to the identification of 500 significant intangible cultural heritage elements, providing invaluable insights into the community’s social practices, customs, and traditions.
Building on this achievement, Avesta Group was retained by the client to develop a comprehensive long-term plan for an expanded documentation campaign encompassing all NEOM territories and encouraging active community participation.
