In the early years of the 21st century, Russia witnessed what is often referred to as the “Perm anomaly” — a remarkable phenomenon that transformed this modest industrial city, located 1,300 kilometers from Moscow, into a thriving international cultural hub. Underpinning this phenomenon is the local cultural policy concept known as “The Perm Project,” which articulates fundamental principles for the city’s development over the mid and long term.
Avesta Group played a pivotal role in the creation of the first museum dedicated to Russian Arte Povera, Permm, in Perm. Commissioned by the Region of Perm, we took on the challenge of developing a masterplan for this innovative contemporary art museum. Mindful of the complexities involved in establishing a new cultural landmark in a remote region, Avesta Group leveraged its expertise to craft a visionary blueprint for that new institution.
