SENSORY TOOLKIT

The Sensory Toolkits (STK) project involved designing innovative toolkits for the Royal Commission for AlUla to support heritage programming across AlUla’s sites. Each toolkit was conceived to facilitate multisensory engagement with museum collections and ancient landscapes, featuring handleable objects, replicas, and interactive props. Catering to diverse audiences, they offer unique programming opportunities while fostering professional development.

The project has been organised in phases and iterations where Avesta Group supported the STK development and delivery stage coordinating team efforts and organising workshops. The workshops were attended by specialists in multisensory engagement, including hands-on activities, olfactory processing, heritage scent production, 3D immersive sound, and multimodal heritage interpretation. Archeologists and subjects specialists were also mobilized to support the development of robust narrative content. Results of the workshops informed the Design Brief passed to the production team.
