“Operation Rubbish! Histories of Waste” is a project by the House of European History that explores the issue of waste in Europe from a historical perspective and highlights its importance as a marker of social change.
Avesta designed an exhibition that takes visitors on a journey through time, exploring the various modes of consumption and waste management throughout history. The proposed concept was structured into four main sections, each representing specific urban microcosms and daily societal lives before and after 1945. Visitors could journey through time, observing the evolution of waste production and perception. The exhibition aimed to showcase the changing attitudes towards waste throughout history and encourage contemplation on the importance of the circular economy today.
