MUSEUM OF ROMANIAN RECENT ART

The Museum of Recent Art (MARe) is a major cultural landmark in Bucharest and Romania’s only private art museum. Designed by Youssef Tohme Architects & Associates, it features a monolithic structure spanning 5 levels and 1,200 square meters. Focusing on Romanian art from the 1960s to today, MARe offers a critical view of artists’ challenges, achievements, and compromises during the communist era and after 1989. The collection includes over 1,000 works by more than 250 Romanian and international artists.

Avesta Group supported the Foundation in all project stages, from initial planning and facility review to shaping the institutional framework for the museum.
