Renovated and expanded by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the Musée d’Art et d’Industrie of Saint-Étienne sought Avesta Group’s expertise in design-build and site coordination. The museum unfolds on three levels, showcasing prestigious collections related to cycles, weapons, and textiles, emblematic of Saint-Étienne’s rich heritage and craftsmanship. It serves as a vibrant intersection of art, history, technology, and science, reflecting the city’s dynamic cultural legacy.
Featuring an extensive collection of ribbons, tapes, machinery, tools, and furniture, the museum preserves Saint-Étienne’s traditional know-how. Moreover, it integrates modern exhibition design and information technologies, fostering both dissemination and conservation efforts. Through digitization initiatives and filmmaking campaigns, the museum ensures the preservation of traditional knowledge while embracing advancements in new technologies, thus offering visitors a comprehensive exploration of everyday art and design industries.
