LOUVRE LENS

Designed by the Japanese architectural firm SANAA in collaboration with Le Studio Adrien Gardère and landscape designer Catherine Mosbach, the Louvre Lens sits on a 50-acre former coal mining site. It’s five buildings span more than 28,000 sq.m, and includes four rectangular structures surrounding a central square building, reminiscent of the layout of the Paris Louvre with its outstretched wings. This museum is also unique in that it gives a behind-the-scenes view, allowing the public to see into its storerooms and restoration rooms.

Over a span of four years, Avesta Group oversaw its architectural development, crafting initial space planning programmes, architectural briefs, orchestrating the architectural competition, and providing comprehensive design reviews from the concept design stage to technical drawings.
