AL ZAHER PALACE

Al Zaher Palace is a significant landmark in the city of Makkah. Initially serving as a royal guesthouse for King Abdulaziz, the palace later became a school under the Ministry of Education. It now stands as a living monument preserving Makkah’s academic legacy through exhibitions, art conservation, and educational programmes.

Avesta Group was commissioned to reorganise the palace into a modern cultural institution with state of the arts facility. Avesta Group worked on a new concept for the gallery dedicated to the development of knowledge and education in Makkah from early Islamic times to nowadays. Apart from planning the exhibition, Avesta Group was responsible for redesigning the facilities and exhibition, reviewing the collections, branding the new institution, and creating the overall operational strategies for the museum.
