MUSEUM OF THE AFRICAN CONTINENT

The Museum of the African Continent is poised to enhance the cultural landscape of the Rabat Museum Quarter to solidify Rabat’s status as Morocco’s cultural capital. Spanning 12,000 sqm within the historic landmark of the former headquarters of the Royal Marine’s state major, this new hub revitalises the connections between the past, present, and future, ensuring the preservation of artistic and cultural traditions. The complex includes the Museum of the African Continent but also houses a conservation training centre for museum professionals, artist residences, and state-of-the-art arts logistics and storage facilities.

Over the past two years, Avesta Group has played a significant role in the Rabat Museum Complex, handling the complete facility planning for the new complex and taking the lead in museography and exhibition design for both museums, working closely with the project’s lead architect.
